May 15th: Kinghouse to Bridge of Orchy

Neil and Stuart walked 12 miles or so today from Kinghouse across Rannoch Moor to Bridge of Orchy.  Midges troubled them somewhat first thing, which confirmed Neil’s suspicion that he was wise to do this trip the opposite way around from the norm – usually people travel Lands End to John O’Groats – his aim in travelling north to south was that he would be out of the Highlands by the midge season.  Good thinking, brother!

Not the most eventful day’s travelling, although Neil was somewhat surprised to come across two forests that were not on his OS map.  Then he checked the publication date – 1973.   Moral: always use the latest edition of your maps.
